INVESTMENT ANALYST

The New Brunswick Innovation Foundation (NBIF) is an independent, non-profit corporation that supports the development of innovation. Our mandate is to expand the innovation capacity of New Brunswick by investing in applied research and innovative, growth-oriented companies that impact the provincial economy.

We are seeking a highly motivated investment analyst to join our team. Reporting to our President and CEO, you will be responsible for the initial review of all of our investment opportunities, and the detailed financial analysis and due diligence required for our decision making process. You will also be responsible for the oversight of our internal accounting and reporting procedures, and play a key role in managing our portfolio of companies.

The successful candidate will have a university degree in business and a minimum of three years of relative experience. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate knowledge and skill in the areas of finance and/or accounting, venture capital finance, entrepreneurship, and enterprise creation. Proficiency in financial modeling is an asset. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, team player with an astute business sense and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Written and spoken proficiency in both official languages is desirable.

This full-time position is based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and involves some travel and work outside of normal business hours. Controller

Are you able to combine accounting expertise with advanced strategic management and leadership skills to achieve business success? Our client, a growing manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all of the accounting and finance functions for its head office in Moncton. This is a permanent opportunity.

Willing to roll up your sleeves, you will lead the organization’s financial reporting, financial planning, treasury, and internal systems and controls activities. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with a team of highly motivated, committed individuals, primary responsibilities include:

• Financial accounting and reporting
• Developing and implementing internal processes, systems and controls
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Contributing to the organization’s strategic direction and growth
• Managing cash flow
• Other accounting, finance and special project responsibilities as required

As the ideal candidate, you have completed an accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA) and have a minimum of five years related experience. Willingness to do the legwork while having the ability to guide the company’s financial direction are critical. Additionally, you are passionate about your responsibilities and possess high ethical standards and integrity. Exceptional organizational, prioritizing and time management skills are also required.

CONTROLLER - ACCOUNTANT
MALLEY INDUSTRIES INC.

New Brunswick-based specialty vehicle manufacturer has an immediate opening for a Controller - Accountant.

Our diverse manufacturing capabilities include ambulances, police and prisoner transportation vehicles, wheelchair accessible and other custom conversions, and an expanding plastics component division. With domestic and international markets, the company has a major expansion underway and will be moving to a new, 90,000 square foot plant this fall.

We are seeking the services of an experienced financial professional who enjoys both the day-to-day challenges of a multi-faceted business yet has the expertise and vision to be part of the company’s growth and continued diversification.

Reporting to the President, the Controller - Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of financial management activities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, coordinate, and evaluate the financial programs and supporting information systems of the company to include budgeting, tax planning, real estate, and conservation of assets.
  • Approve and coordinate changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems for the company.
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements.
  • Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, salary updates, ledger, and account maintenance and data entry.
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports.
  • Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and internal auditing procedures.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
  • Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
  • Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices and auditing standards.
  • Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems.
  • Assist in obtaining the necessary licenses and insurance.
  • Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses. Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.
  • Establish and implement short-and long-range financial goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Participate in planning and policy-making decisions.
  • Oversee financial management of foreign operations to include developing financial and budget policies and procedures.
  • Ongoing liaison with KPMG on matters pertaining to financial controls and stewardship.
  • Liase with financial partners.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Represent the company externally, where necessary, to government agencies and funding agencies.

Train, supervise, and evaluate staff and work collaboratively with purchasing, operations and inventory management and other key functional groups.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating and change management. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Proficiency with Syspro a definite asset.
  • Knowledge of federal and Provincial financial regulations.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Completion of a degree in finance or accounting, professional accounting designation, with five or more years of experience in a senior level finance or accounting position, and a CA or CMA.
