The Senior Financial Advisor provides support to the Director,
Financial Reporting and Controls in the execution of mandated
comptrollership responsibilities, to carry out programs and
services by the Government of Nunavut (GN) to the citizens of
Nunavut, and to achieve mandatory fulfillment of statutory obligations.
As a member of the Financial Reporting and Controls Division,
the incumbents (along with the Financial Reporting staff) are
responsible for all aspects of the financial reporting for the
GN (including the preparation of the Public Accounts and their
audit). The incumbents are also responsible for conducting and/or
participating in projects involving research, analysis, development
of options and strategies. This would involve making recommendations,
providing advice, information and support necessary in the areas
of governance, financial management practices and emerging accounting
issues.
Extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of financial
reporting, public sector accounting standards, financial management
and governance in combination with a Canadian professional accounting
designation (CA, CGA, and CMA) is essential. The successful
candidates would have 5 years of related work experience in
a fairly complex public and/or private sector environment. Work
experience with current Public Sector Accounting Standards and
generally accepted accounting and auditing standards is required,
along with proficiency in Microsoft Office. The successful candidates’
3 or more years of supervisory experience will facilitate the
planning, prioritizing and directing of the work of divisional
staff and contracted resources.
The ability to speak Inuktitut/Inuinnaqtun will be considered
as an asset. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture,
land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of a combination of education, knowledge,
skills and abilities to formal education and experience requirements
will be considered.
This position is excluded from the Nunavut Employees Union and
has a starting salary of $94,244 per annum,
plus a Northern Allowance of $15,016 per annum.

The University of New Brunswick, Faculty of
Business, Saint John invites applications for a one year renewable
term appointment in Accounting. The appointment will be at the
rank of Assistant Professor or Instructor, based on qualifications.
The appointment will take effect no later than 1 July 2011,
or sooner if possible.
Minimum qualifications for consideration are a Masters Degree
(or equivalent), professional designation, and relevant work
experience. A Ph.D. or DBA in Accounting as well as teaching
experience at the university level will be considered an asset.
Teaching assignments will be at the undergraduate and graduate
levels.

Ron Joyce Centre for Business Studies/Commerce Department at
Mount Allison University invites applications for a tenure track
appointment in Accounting. The successful candidate will pursue
an active research program while employing innovative pedagogical
approaches and contributing to the wider academic and professional
community.
The appointment will be made at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant
Professor and will commence on July 1, 2011, subject to budgetary
approval. Candidates must have a research interest and a strong
commitment to teaching undergraduate students in Accounting.
While candidates with a Ph.D. in Accounting or related field
are preferred, candidates with a professional accounting designation
and a Master's degree or candidates with teaching experience
and several years of experience at a senior level are encouraged
